Much more difficult than I expected!

Aside from designing the questions related to garbage sorting, I find another part of the assessment quiz as my biggest challenge. That is the design of the introduction at the beginning of the quiz. First, I spend time on the title I want to put to attract residents to participate actively. Then I ended up placing a "Community Environmental Protection Project: How much do you know about garbage classification?" at the top of the paper. Then the next line, I add a "Community questionnaire survey" (All in Chinese)
Title matters a lot because not every resident has the time or is willing to engage in the project. I need to tell them the purpose, the upcoming events, and more information and image about my capstone project. The preassessment test is my chance to do so, so when I edit the question paper, I add a few sections before the test begins.
First, I add a note with four bulletin points:
1. Since this questionnaire is used to obtain the average environmental awareness of residents in the community regarding garbage classification, please try not to check online when you are asking questions. Since you will not need to fill in detailed personal information, please don't worry about filling in the question wrongly. I am happy to know you are willing to facilitate subsequent activities in the community.
2. The purpose is to simulate whether it can be directly judged correctly when encountering garbage classification problems in daily life. The final evaluation results will be used to adjust and organize the "children's treasure hunt" in the community. (Of course, it is also related to garbage classification. Exploration games, there are small rewards)
3. The estimated completion time is 15-20 minutes. After completion, please deliver to the red box marked "How Much Do You Know About Garbage Classification" at the side gate near Jinqiao International Commercial Plaza before February 24th.
4. Residents who have children at home can give the opportunity of doing the questions to the children, and at the same time, they can also help and guide them. Community Committee will provide this questionnaire to each household with two copies. If multiple people want to try it, they will have the opportunity.
Through the above section, I add my purpose and telling them that there will be something coming up after you fill this test, and it will be beneficial for the whole community. This probably can encourage the residents to spend time reading the following things on the paper. Since I know that it will not be an exam and there will be no "teachers" supervising while answering the questions, I put up the note suggesting them to answer within their abilities. I emphasize this test's anonymity and tell the reason why they should try not to search on the internet. It is vital to estimate the time of the questionnaire.
This is what I recently noticed when I received a survey phone call. They tell us the time the call may be so I can take out some time to participate. I may not participate when I know it requires one hour to finish. Giving them sufficient time to complete the questions, I set up a loose deadline for residents.
The other section I add is a "willingness section," through answering the questions in this section, I will be able to obtain further engagement in my project. Since I don't think everyone can follow the events, date, and announcement, I will like to use this opportunity as the only chance of having pre-communication with the residents before the scavenger hunt event. I add a website at the end and start to edit the Chinese part of my website for residents to understand. As for the willingness section, I ask the following questions:
Are the people participating in this questionnaire willing to continue supporting environmental protection activities in the community?
Yes No
Will the people participating in this questionnaire be willing to follow up information on the community's environmental protection projects?
Yes No
If there are children in the family, are you willing to let the children participate in the follow-up environmental protection treasure hunt activities (the activity location is always in the community, without leaving the community)
Yes No No children at home
In the end, the papers are in the community committee's hand. Thanks to my grandmother, I can have help from the community committee and many other respectful elders in the neighborhood. The members help us to distribute the questions during the daytime for several days.
The other marked milestone is that the box is already at the side gate after Taobao is buying it. I buy it early, so it is not affected by the Chinese New Year's rest. I am expecting responses from the residents!
